A New Chapter
Over the past year and a half, Civic Hall gave us an incredible opportunity to pilot, build and grow Delta.NYC, a program that has engaged more than 200 digital professionals in pro bono services worth $1,000,000 to 40 mission-driven organizations. We couldn’t have done this without the generous support of Civic Hall, Civic Hall Labs, the Ford Foundation and our growing community of civic-minded digital professionals and tech-forward organizations.
As we close out this 2018 cycle, we want to share some updates about future programming.
Civic Hall has big plans for the future. Slated to open in early 2021, Civic Hall @ Union Square will be an expansion that will include a much bigger collaborative work space, a state-of-the-art events and conference facility, and a new 40,000 square foot digital learning and workforce development center for underserved populations.
This is an incredible endeavor, and as Civic Hall enters its next phase of planning, Delta.NYC will be going on hiatus while they focus on building out the workforce development center.
Therefore, we (Mel & Nicole) will be leaving Civic Hall at the end of May. While we are sad to leave, we’re grateful to Civic Hall for giving us the space to learn, grow and contribute to building technology for the public good. We will remain part of the Civic Hall community and look forward to watching them grow.
We are also excited to share with you some updates about our next chapter, and want to extend an invitation for you all to be a part of it. Over the next several months, we will be developing the Intentful Tech Collaborative, an intentional community that actively helps each other learn about, use, and build technology to strengthen groups working towards social justice. Our goal is to cultivate a healthy ecosystem of community members with diverse experiences and expertise who are able to collaborate towards a shared vision of social impact.
While this group will look quite different from Delta.NYC, it will still fall in line with our personal passion of enabling technologists and nonprofits to work together to address complex social challenges, and we warmly welcome you all to join and grow this new collaborative with us.
If you’d like to stay in touch, receive updates from us, or even be part of the development of the collaborative, head to our website here.
We look forward to continuing to collaborate with many of you in the future!
